A Better Way of Ohio offers non-medical transportation services for our clients.
We own both a wheelchair van and a fifteen passenger van, licensed by the State of Ohio. This service was initiated to allow our clients to travel to field trips and group activities together, in a clean, comfortable and spacious vehicle. Friendships are formed from time spent together. Sharing the anticipation prior to an event or the satisfaction of group accomplishment afterward is encouraged by group travel.
A Better Way of Ohio strives for total consistency in all aspects of our involvement with our clients. Our driver's are certified and trained to the same level as direct care staff. They are able to provide support when needed, beyond their driving responsibilities. As much as possible, the same driver will service the same route or recurring outside activity.
Vans are also available for travel to and from workshops, jobs or appointments. We recognize the commitment in time and energy placed upon family members. Delegating even a small part of their daily responsibilities to a trusted service lightens the load. Families are an integral part of our focus and concern.
Traveling to each individuals home to pick them up, or drop them off, is a social activity in and of itself. Capturing this time and using it in a positive manner is just another step to improve an individual's daily life. Growing a circle of friends through shared experience with peers on the same level is one of the missing elements within the special needs community. We use every opportunity to encourage socialization.
